EXAM: AIIMS

EXAM AIPGMEE
EXAMS : AIIMS : PREPARATION GUIDE

  • How to prepare for AIIMS ?

  • Well, here is a short advice for you to follow, to help you prepare for the coming examination
    • Prerequisites -
      • Decide your books first - I mean the book that you are going to use for questions and answers
[Stick to it till the last]
    • Make a time chart first
      • For 1st revision of previous years AIIMS papers & AIPGMEE papers
      • For 2nd revision of previous years AIIMS papers & AIPGMEE papers
      • For solving out doubtful questions of both papers
      • For final revisions (at least three)

    • First revison of previous years AIIMS and AIPGMEE papers -
      • Sit with a clock, make it a habit (Remember, a few seconds can cost you a seat)
      • Start with the first set of books [The books that you are going to use till last]
      • Start with the last year AIIMS paper (backwards i.e. 2003 May  onwards )
      • Try to solve a paper of one year in a single sitting, make a note of time when you start and at the end again note the time.
        (Keep a record of it)
      • Check your answers with the answers given in the book
        • If you feel dissatisfied with any answer or have doubts about it then mark the question in your first book
          [Dont search for it now]
      • Now read the explanations
        • If you feel dissatisfied with any answer or have doubts about it then mark the question in your book
          [Dont search for it now]
      • Start with the next paper
      • When you have finished all AIIMS papers, start with AIPGMEE papers and finish them

    • Second revision of previous years AIIMS and AIPGMEE papers -
      • Start with a second book. [Book published by second author, for the same exam]
      • Sit with clock
      • Start with last years AIIMS paper
      • Try to solve a paper of one year in a single sitting (as you have to do that in the exam too)
      • Check the answers given in the back of this book
        • You will get same answers as first revision and wont have problems with most of the questions
        • For some doubtful questions of first revision, you will get answers and explanations in this book
        • Some questions are still unanswered or you still dont trust the answers of these few questions.
It is these questions that you need to take care of.
Mark these questions in the first book (not in this book)
[Dont search for answers even now, just wait for the right time, i will tell you in a short while]
      • Finish all the papers one by one, then AIPGMEE papers.
        • While you keep on solving the questions, you may get answers of some of your doubtful questions, so that you wont have to waste your time searching for that.

    • Solving out doubtful questions of both papers -
      • By now you have marked in your first book all the doubtful questions.
      • Check the answers from the references provided( usually explanations are provided with references in the mcqs books)
      • The best place to do this is your college library (as you will get most of the books together)
      • Try solving these questions now
        • Group study can be helpful here but not compulsory
    • Final revisions -
      • This is just a few days before the exam
      • The number of final revisions should be alleast three
      • Your need to quickly go through the previous years questions only of AIIMS, and just check whether you remember an answer.
      • If you can recall the answer, proceed to the next question
      • If you cant recall, mug it up [You have already solved the doubtful questions].
[Why do i say to mug it up. Because you have tried to search the question (and might have been successful), and now you have the correct answer, time is less, so you cant spend too much time on one question (as then you wont be able to complete revision)]
[Even in exam itself, you dont waste time on one question and quickly switch over to the next, thats the rule you follow here]

    • It all depends on how badly you need it. If your life depends on it (which i am sure does, for some of you), then you put in everything...and rest becomes history.

    • More later... Just take the name of GOD and start with full hopes, coz its only you and you alone who have to prepare, who needs to pass it, and with a good rank to make your dreams come true.

    • A word about the books -
      • First set of books could be
        • AIIMS PGME - By Amit - Ashish  (Arora Medical Books Distributor)
        • AIPGMEE - Mudit Khanna (Aditya Medical Publishers)
      • Second set of books could be -
        • Parihar - Both for AIIMS & AIPGMEE

Please note: The names of books recommended are only a suggestion, and opinion of others may differ.
YOU may use any book you are comfortable with, just make it sure that you stick to it till the last.

    •  A word on doubtful explanations and answers -
      • While you are preparing, you get bored, you will often turn on the internet.
Just mail your doubtful question, (with as much details as possible - name of exam, year and & the name of the book with question number, if possible) to mcqs@netmedicos.com

Who knows, you might get a reply before you spend your valuable time searching answers and explanations, so that you can prepare better
