  • Dates -
    11th Jun,   2004 - Date of counselling
    11th Apr,  2004 - Date of exam
    30th Mar,  2004 - Date by which candidates should receive admit card
    1st   Mar,  2004 - Last date of submission of application form
    27th Jan,   2004 - Application Forms become available
     
  • Eligibility -
    MBBS degree with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. The candidate must have completed the internship. The candidates must have studied Mathematics at +2 level (The students who have passed +2 level Mathematics as additional subject from National Open School or State Boards are also eligible for admission). Seats are reserved for SC/ST and physically challenged (handicapped)  candidates as per Government of India rules.
     
  • Test Centres -
    Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi,
     
  • Application forms -
    The Application Form, Admit Card Format, and the Information Brochure would be available on the website http://www.iitkgp.ernet.in/~gate  from January 27, 2004. The candidates can download the application form and send the completed application form, with two self addressed slips, and a demand draft for the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 700/- for the SC/ST candidates) in favour of ‘IIT Kharagpur’ payable at any Nationalised bank in Kharagpur.

    Application material can also be obtained in person/by post  by submitting two self-addressed slips and a demand draft as mentioned above, from the ‘Chairman, GATE, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, 721302’.

    Candidates who choose to download the application form have to send the following through Speed Post
    before  March 1, 2004:
    (a)
        Application form completed in all respects
    (b)
        The two Admit cards duly filled in
    (c)
        Demand draft as per the procedure outlined above
    (d)
        Acknowledgement form  duly filled in
    (e)
        Two address slips
    (f)
         Copy of SC/ST Certificate if applicable
     

    Candidates who purchase the application form from the GATE Office, IIT Kharagpur have to ensure that they submit through Speed Post before March 1, 2004:
    (a)
        Application form completed in all respects
    (b)
        The two Admit cards duly filled in
    (c)
        Acknowledgement form  duly filled in
    (d)
        Two address slips
    (e)
        Copy of SC/ST Certificate if applicable

    All the above application related material  should be sent in an envelope to:

    GATE
    Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
    Kharagpur – 721 302 (WB)
     
  • Admit card -
    Admit card is an important document, which has to be produced during the test, counseling, and enrolment. It will be issued only to those candidates who submit the application form complete in all respects before the closing date. It should normally reach the students by 30.3.2004. If it is not received by this date, the Chairman GATE should be contacted immediately. The Institute will not be responsible for any postal delay or irregularity resulting in late or non-delivery of the admit card.
     
  • Test -
    The admission test will be of objective type to test the aptitude of the candidates in +2 level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics apart from the standard syllabi of MBBS. It will consist of 10 questions in Mathematics, 15 questions each in Physics and Chemistry and 80 questions based upon MBBS syllabus. The test will be of two-hour duration and will be held between 10.00 and 12.00 hrs on 11.04.2004, Sunday. The test date and time will not be changed under any circumstances.
     
  • Counselling -
    On the basis of performance in the written test a short list of candidates will  be prepared and the short-listed candidates will be called for counseling at IIT Kharagpur on 11.06.2004, Friday.
