What is PLAB ? The PLAB test is relevant for overseas qualified
doctors wishing to practise in UK. To practise in UK, one needs registration with the
governing body called GMC (General Medical Council).
This registration can be obtained by passing the PLAB
test conducted by the Professional and Linguistic
Assesment Board.
The test provides the evidence that the doctor has the
necessary skills and knowledge to practise in the UK.
The PLAB test - is specifically designed to assess
doctors' ability to work safely in a first appointment
as a senior house officer in a UK hospital in the
National Health Service (NHS).
