Explanation -
Measures to prevent / detect early manifestation of
pre-eclampsia
- Regular antenatal check up - to detect rapid gain in
weight, or rise in Blood pressure
- From 20th Week of pregnancy - Bed Rest on her LEFT
side, at least 2 extra hours at noon
- Diet well balanced, rich in protein - Restriction of
salt or use of diuretics is not of help
- LOW DOSE ASPIRIN (60mg/day)
- is promising.
Inhibits cyclooxygenase in platelets -- prevention of
formation of thromboxane selectively without inhibition of
prostacyclin synthesis
