Root value - dorsal branches of ventral rami
of L4,L5,S1
Course -
- Emerges in the gluteal region through the greater
sciatic foramen, above the piriformis
- Passes between gluteus medius and minimus muscles
(supplies them)
- Ends by supplying Tensor fascia lata (from its deeper
aspect)
Branches -
A) Muscular branches -
1) Gluteus medius
2) Gluteus minimus
3) Tensor Fascia Lata (Ilio tibial tract)
Note : The muscles
supplied by Superior Gluteal Nerve are - Abductors & Medial
rotators of the hip joint
B) Articular
branches - to hip joint
