nanu Total Posts: 228 | Posted: Sat Jan 27, 2007 06:08 am I WOULD LIKE TO CORRECT MY STATEMENT ON CENTRAL NEURAXIAL ANESTHESIA I have latest 13th edition of lee. it is clearly written 'NEITHER ASPIRIN ALONE NOR NSAIDS WITHOUT ADDITIONAL FACTORS ARE CONSIDE1RE1D SIGINIFICANT FACTORS FOR DE1VELOPMENT OF SPINAL HAEMATOMA AFTER CENTRAL NEURAXIAL ANESTHESIA. so aspirin is c.i. only if their are drug interactions or low platelet count. HOWEVER IN ELECTIVE CASES IT SHOULD BE STOPPED 7-10 DAYS BEFORE OPERATION. IF UNDERLYING DISEASE IS SERIOUS<THROMBOEMOLISM> THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED BY SUBCUTANEOUS LMWH 12 HRS. BEFORE SURGERY. THIS IS A DIRECT QUOTE FROM LEE 13EDITION. SO BEST 1st ANS SHOULD BE--ASPIRIN. |
